Biography

Michael Jackson, born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, was an American singer, songwriter, and dancer, widely regarded as one of the most influential entertainers in the history of music. He rose to fame at a young age as the lead singer of the Jackson 5, a Motown group formed with his brothers. With hits like “I Want You Back” and “ABC,” Jackson’s talent quickly stood out.

In the late 1970s, Jackson launched a solo career that would define pop music for decades. His 1979 album Off the Wall marked his breakthrough as an adult solo artist. However, it was 1982’s Thriller that solidified his superstar status. Thriller became the best-selling album of all time, featuring iconic tracks like “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” and the title track “Thriller.” Jackson's groundbreaking music videos and his signature dance move, the Moonwalk, revolutionized pop culture.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Jackson released a string of successful albums, including Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995). Known as the "King of Pop," he earned numerous awards, including 13 Grammy Awards and the Grammy Legend Award.

Jackson’s life was also marked by controversy and legal battles, particularly related to his personal life and allegations of child sexual abuse, which he consistently denied. Despite the challenges, his musical legacy remained powerful.

Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, from acute propofol intoxication at the age of 50, sparking an outpouring of global grief. He left behind a profound cultural legacy, influencing generations of artists across genres. His impact on music, dance, and visual performance continues to shape popular entertainment today. Jackson remains a complex and iconic figure whose artistic genius redefined the boundaries of pop music.
